Ive been searching the net for idea's for fuel storage tanks, even looked at small HO/OO Stuff,
But nothing says buy me..

Ive been watching the scenecraft N gauge ones but cant find any info on the size of it.

Could someone please help me with this, so I can see if it will fit in the space on my layout.

I know Knightwing, Kibri and Woodland Scenics all do tank kits, though with the exception of the Knightwing kits they are hard to come by.
I feel a scratch build coming on Porkie 

What size tanks are you looking for Porkie? I've seen some of the US guys use aerosol caps, which come in all shapes and sizes.

It has to be no bigger then 65mm deep and no longer than 170mm.

Don't want to go all Blue Peter on this one Porkie but 65mm x 170mm can't be far off a Fairy liquid bottle. OK I know they put it in fancy bottles these days but the economy versions still use the cylindrical shape. You might need to fidget a bit with the ends but a riveted band will disguise the joins.

The cradles, steps and pipe work are straightforward scratchbuilding and Ratio do a ladder kit.

I'm in a steam time warp where such things didn't exist but a scale 32 feet high by 85 feet long seems pretty big - are they really that size?

If I remember correct, they are release a new storage tank and fuel point to replace this model, according to hattons part number is 42-129 for the bundled tank and 42-128 for the pump house etc with size of tank unit 56mm by 28mm by 31mm and the pump house is 84mm by 37mm by 19mm
May not be able to put them in place but at least you could leave space price is around £20 each

What about a couple of the old 35mm Film plastic canisters, glued end to end??
