General Discussion / Re: Favourite Sporting Moments...Last post by port perran - July 10, 2025, 01:38:20 PMThis is a very difficult one.
As some will know I'm a Bristol City fan who has seen them play well over 1500 games in 60 years. If I had to pick a match and moment it would have to be Mansfield Town 4 - 5 Bristol City in Nov 2002 (League 1 as it is now). The moment would be Christian Roberts with the winning goal in the 95th minute. It was one of those goals - a thirty yard screamer that you just knew was going in as soon as the ball left his boot. As for the match it was an incredible finish. Mansfield led 4-2 in the 88th minute before City scored 3 times to win 5-4. The roof nearly came off in the away end at Field Mill that afternoon as Roberts scored that winner. #62
General Discussion / Re: Favourite Sporting Moments...Last post by thebrighton - July 10, 2025, 01:06:23 PMI'm not really into athletics but I think mine is Jess Hill winning gold at the 2012 Olympics and the Super Saturday.
She was the face of the Olympics and had the whole country just assuming she would win gold which, being British, usually results in heroic failure. Going into the final round, the 800m, she just needed to jog round to win gold but blew the field away in the home straight. 3 golds in 45 minutes in the Olympic stadium, great viewing. #63

N Gauge Discussion / Re: Trombone PipesLast post by joe cassidy - July 10, 2025, 12:46:03 PMIf you make your own trombones I would recommend the wire used by florists/flower arrangers.
This is very soft, not at all springy, so it stays in shape when bent into convoluted piping #65

N Gauge Discussion / Re: Trombone PipesLast post by Luke Piewalker - July 10, 2025, 12:05:39 PMBH Enterprises have come in as a potential supplier.
To be honest I'm still a bit upset that Farish left them off the new tool ones, being as they are a particularly distinctive aspect. #67

"Arsenal come streaming forward now in surely what will be their last attack. A good ball by Dixon, finding Smith, for Thomas charging through the midfield! Thomas, it's up for grabs now! Thomas! Right at the end! An unbelievable climax to the league season" Liverpool 0 Arsenal 2, 26th May 1989 And I missed most of it because my wife had arranged a dinner party! Needless to say I do remind her of that at times.. Dave #68
