Metcalfe dimensions
« on: December 11, 2012, 10:31:24 PM »
I have just started to mock up some buildings for the layout and i plan on using metcalfe kits. I got the dimensions from their website for the low relief shops and houses and drew them out on paper to trial them around the board.

Its an organic layout - in other words, my son and i are making it up as we go.

The question is: are the dimensions given per shop or for the whole parade in the kit. Same question goes for the houses. Seems odd that a shop is 70mm wide and a row of houses only 140mm.

Anyone got these on their layout?

The sizes seem OK to me

Two shops 71mm, Four Houses (71mm two shops x 2) = 140mm

One building 35mm x 148 = 5180mm = about 16'

16' seems about right for an average terraced house.

If you have a look at the Metcalf web site they give you the dimensions and floor plans of their models. Even individual floor plans where there is more than one building in the kit. Just click on the alternative picture on your selected model.
