Thanks Chris !!  :)

Yes, all are hale and hearty in the Baggins household ..... full steam ahead with the modelling now (if you pardon the obvious pun !!)

Nice to be back on the forum after what seems ages away.

Hi Simon, and welcome back
Like CiP I hope your good lady is making a steady recovery and I look forward to seeing your new layout develop. What sort of motive power, if any, have you purchased over the last 2 years?
Are you going DC or DCC?

Thanks for the kind words about Mrs Baggins ...... much appreciated.

I treated myself to a new Diesel loco the other week ..... Dapol's Class 27 ..... D5041 in BR green, and what a sweet little runner it is too .... very nice slow running and smooooth  :D

I intend starting out DC on the layout, but want to convert later to DCC with a view to fitting sound too.
To make it easier on me though, and instead of all that soldering wires to the track, I thought I might just fit a job lot of Kato power feeds and leave the wires unconnected under the board for now. I worked it out to about 11 or 12 to cover all the trackwork.

It might not be the convention, but on such a small layout it should easily suffice. I am trying to keep the extra work down to a minimum and the enjoyment factor high ..... if it works then cool, if not then I only have meself to blame !!  :D

Simon.
