« on: December 26, 2010, 01:20:02 PM »
As the name says it`s a mess,I tried to get a track plan going but it just did not work out that way so I threw the track in the air and this is what came out

union mills 3f with about 40 wagons

chip fat burners

back to the choo choos

some one left the cattle dock gate open and the sheep got into the veggie plots

pipe stack was made out of cotton buds

now taking cover to wait for the fall out

This is a good looking layout making good use of your footprint. very attractive with some lovely detail touches.

If you were to change just one thing: swap the positions of platform 2 and track 2 (counting from the station building), (you'll have to shove it along a bit too). Doing this would give you three platform faces for the price of two, and "through" trains could call at your new platform 3.
Two rails good. Three better.

Lot of scenic work gone in there Cloughie, and some good locos by the looks of it(not a fan of British but they look good)

Looks like you have fairly limited running options in the space you have but have made good use of them, reckon with a few tweaks of the scenics you could get a double loop in there and move the station to the mainline, leaving you a very nice goods yard.

Like the guys said, lots of detail and nice touches in there too

That's the ideal way, cloughie, but that would mean a very tight double-track curve coming into the platform.

I actually had in mind leaving the through tracks as they are, just moving the island platform one track further out. So, starting from the station building, you'd have platform 1, two tracks, island platform 2/3, then the existing two through tracks. Throgh trains would have to crossover to reach the platform.

Subject to what can be achieved with the curves, your way is much neater, and you could abolish the crossover at the platform.
Two rails good. Three better.

ah well young tadpole, the trains run clockwise and the trains coming off the platforms have to chuck it in reverse to get out so I am a bit confused what you mean ???
