I have spent a few hours online searching about and I can't find any modern carriages or DMU/EMU sets for the British Isles that come equipped with interior lighting. Are there any out there? I rather fancied the Class 350 but that doesnt have any as far as I am aware.

One or two of the Dapol DMUs have connectors for adding it and the Dapol Mark 3's but that's about it in modern image.

For the rest you just have to fit your own. The DMUs are not generally too hard as the two car ones already have power in both cars. For the 3 car ones or the fourth car of the desiro a little more thinking is probably required.

In general for the coaches it isn't too hard. The tricky bit is the pickups and getting it reliable enough to avoid excessive flicker, or fitting a flicker fixer (which does bump the cost a chunk)

Would that include the ones that come in a set with the Class 43 (ie Grand Central)?

Be aware also that half or a whole coach of Farish DMUs/EMUs is taken up with the mechanism.  Putting lights in the rest will make this more obvious!

Should do yes, they'll say "lightbar ready" in the Dapol catalogue if so. Some of the older Gresley coaches are not - so for older types check which version you are getting!

Another option if you don't want the hassle of pickups is to run the lights off a small 12v battery and switch - just remember to switch them off again though!

Also bear in mind that the Farish printed shells such as the mk2s & mk3s will bleed light through the livery colour so you may want to paint the insides black - avoiding the windows of course! This is not a problem with the coaches that have separate glazing (Farish mk1s and Dapol mk3s etc.)
