Hi picko and welcome to the forum. There is a lot of information about track on the forum.

Much depends on the sort of layout you are planning. For example are you looking at being prototypical or is ease of set up and use your priority.

I'd recommend that you search the forum for Peco Code 55, Peco Code 80 and Kato Unitrack to start with. Each of these has its pros and cons and there are plenty of pictures of the different track types being used on the forum.
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

Hi Picko

Welcome in to  :NGaugeForum::wave:

Don't forget Peco set track too, its a great place to start or have a look at the Graham Farish train sets that come with track and controller. What era are you modelling?

Cheers

Mark
