As title suggests

I am thinking of switching from N to OO gauge as it has many more of the models that appeal to me

Question is I have a very large collection in N gauge - mainly modern stuff from 1970s to present day era

Everything from early Poole farish stuff to dcc sound models etc

Not a chance I would ever sell to a retailer or reseller so the obvious place to list would be eBay I guess

I just thought tho if anyone knows who would be interested in doing swaps for N to OO gauge - just an idea and probably a long shot with what I am looking for, still worth an ask

Or alternatively a good place to sell N gauge - would a model railway exhibition be a good idea?

Why not use the N'Porium linked to this forum?
I sold a lot through eBay some years ago and it was a pain with packing up then posting many individual items. I also sold via an auction house when moving on some relatives items which were HO gauge; try Vectis, Wessex Auctions, or SAS Auctions. I also contacted some model railway shops and sent pictures of all the items (75) and got a good response from Hampshire Models where I did eventually sell the HO trams.
HTH.
Finally, after waiting over 55 years I am building a permanent layout in a purpose built shed!

When my late father passed away he had a LOT (several thousand)  of model vehicles in all scales.

I started to sell some of the larger items via Ebay but very soon lost the will to live as it was such an arduous process packaging and posting everything.

Like @Firstone18 I ended up using Wessex Auctions.
They provided a first class service. It was good fun watching the various lots sell in their live on-line auction.

Thanks both of you for the advice - I hadn't thought of auction house - so something to consider

Yes eBay can be a pain but would rather do that myself then sell to retailers etc

I just thought worth asking on this forum first as you never know could be some folk open to swapping.

As I do have some nice stuff, rare sought after etc, think I got around 31 dapol hst sets, and hundreds of locos & rolling stock

You still have to do that using the N'porium and provide pics of every item but, yes, I've sold a lot through the forum

If you're on Facebook, you can sell them on the N'porium Facebook group. Much easier to upload pics there than trying to upload them on the forum.

Thanks for the advice, I tend not to use Facebook no more, in fact I try to avoid social media altogether ever since the explosion in AI it literally does my nut in

Ideally was hoping to do swaps rather than sell

As this was my idea was myself and the person should I swap an item with - both end up with a fair deal if that makes sense

I can take pictures of everything no problem, and if people can obtain or have the items in OO gauge I'm looking for

Then anything I got in N gauge is up for grabs would rather do it this way then directly sell to someone to begin with

Hope that makes sense

What sort of stuff do you have in N and what OO are you after? I have a fairly decent pile of OO stuff I am trying to get rid of now I solely do N gauge
