What are these couplings called?

Hopefully a simple question - what are these couplings called?

They are on a few Farish Mk1 coaches that I bought online without checking the pictures closely enough and so I will probably look to sell on but wanted to be clear in my descriptions as to what they are. From what I can see they are knuckle couplings but are there different sub-types, or would that be a sufficient description when selling?

Look like Kaydees to me

I believe nowadays KayDee tends to refer to the HO buckeyes, whereas the N scale version are Microtrains.     Similar to (but not identical) to other buckeyes such as Bachmanns, Kato, Dapol Easy-Shunt.  That example does look like a Microtrains.

Should be easy enough to replace with a standard Rapido T-shank coupling and spring, readily available from Graham Farish.   Post a clear photo of the underside of the bogie to confirm the type of coupling pocket fitted?

This is the underside of one of them - and does look like the original coupling was removed and a new small pocket fitted inside. It does seem to be tightly wedged in (which I guess it has to be to stop it coming out) and just hoping it hasn't been held in with glue. I have tried to gently push it out but it isn't moving. I guess just use more force and cross fingers?

OK so that is a T-shank pocket on the bogie.  You could try twisting the coupling 90 degrees to see if the shaft will then pull forward out of the front of the pocket.

You'll need T-shank Rapido couplings and springs to fit in place of the buckeyes.  It's a simple job.

Hi

To remove the draft pocket (piece where the t shank fits) you need to press down on the top of it probably with the bogie removed.

This then releases the t shank of the Microtains coupling. Be careful not to lose the very tiny spring. The actual coupling can then be rotated through 90 degrees to remove.

Managed to pop out the coupling (having taken the bogie off of the coach to make access easier) - fortunately there didn't seem to have been any glue used, just a tight squeeze. Just had to take the plunge and press with some pressure! I can now fit standard couplings and use the coaches.

Slightly off topic... but that doesn't look like a mk1 from those pics, and the underframe doesn't look to be fited properly. The buffers are out of position relative to the end of the body and there looks to be damage to the body...

Have you a photo of the whole coach?

Looks like someone has mangled the ends of the coach to move the buffers back so the can give the appearance of very close coupling. Fine in a rake with those couplers but going to be messy to undo.

Well spotted.  That makes the front of the T-shank pocket too far in, so has that been cut-n-shut?   Will probably need long shank couplings if it's going to run on tight curves.

Sorry, been away for a break!

This was indeed a slightly 'adapted' (being kind) mk2 coach. The others are all Mk1 BGs / Newspaper coaches which is why I said Mk1 in the original post and then managed to use the one that wasn't a Mk1 for the pics - sorry for the confusion.

I did managed to pop a couple of the couplings out and replace with standard sprung couplings on a couple of them, which is what I need for now, but will probably leave the others alone for the time being.
