So, Farish announce 374-901C - an era 5 sorting van with lights fitted..........that don't work.
 ???
I have ½ a dozen of the 374-901 with lights that do work.
 ???
Would it have been so difficult for the sorting van to have working lights or did Farish suffer with issues I'm unaware of?

Sometimes you bite the dog...

...sometimes the dog bites you!

I can explain it to you...

...but I can't understand it for you.

Yeah. Those light emitting diodes are sooooooo expensive.

374-901 (W80300) & 374-901A (W80301) had working lights.  The last release, 374-901B (SC80315) came without, as appears will be the case for the latest 'C' revision.

I picked up some spares of the first two with the working lights, and swapped the chassis with the PCB for the chassis without the PCB, so I could have all numbers  with working lights.  I also therefore have a few I can run without the lights.  I might do the same again with the new version.

It does seem a strange choice; I can't remember what the pickup arrangement is, but the only other difference is the PCB with a few components and the LEDs on it.  I can't imagine the cost is that significant, but I can only assume that's the rationale for not including it.

At least the last release did have the orange lenses in the bodyside, so it was possible to do the chassis swap.  Hopefully the new one will be just the same.
