That still sounds like a blanking plug to be honest, they do sometimes have 'stuff' on them. Easiest to post a photo.

My Jinty blanking plugs have a couple of coils on them - for RF suppression, I guess.

Dang you are right. They are just a pair of RF chokes.
So I swapped the blanking plugs over and no difference. The faster 22 remained faster, the slower 22 remained slower. My purchasing spreadsheet tells me both were bought new. And I obviously didn't check one against another.
