I'm not sure if this little video has been shared before. If it has apologies but I came across it this morning whilst waiting for paint to dry.

The Rev Teddy Boston was, I believe, a friend of the great Ivo Peters and is one of a long line of railway loving vicars.

Yeah it popped up on my Facebook feed this morning as well, as cool as it is to see this sort of stuff and related videos, garden trolleybuses, 60's trams etc, some of the commentary content is shocking though :o

PLD

Also a friend of Rev Wilbert Awdry and immortalised in the Railway Series books as "The Fat Clergyman".

I even spotted 'The Hand of God' operating the turntable :)

On a purely personal note, my parents were married in East Dereham by Billy Boston, brother of the more famous Teddy.  Don't think it's had any effect on me, though, as I have absolutely no interest in the GWR.....

To me the religious hero of this hobby will forever be the Rev. Peter Denny.

Oh, and I thought the commentary in the video was rather good  :D

I remember Peter Denny's hand built electro-mechanical computer called the "Automatic Crispin" - designed to replace his son when he went to University/discovered girls.

The whole thing was a work of art in EM gauge. Probably the first finescale model ever built.

And he chose the Great Central because he liked chocolate and cream coaches, but his first model, a GWR siphon, was criticised at his club for not being exactly right. So he decided to model a line and era which very few people could criticise him on!

Nothing changes!

Yes, the automatic Crispin was brilliant. Even though the entire layout is in safe hands, the last I heard was the automatic Crispin wasn't functional.
