@martyn @03piggs i believe the Minitrix numbers for the teak LNER coaches are 13013 & 13014

The post from @martyn  above re Gresley coaches is correct.

Minitrix produced the following Gresley coach models:

13013 Brake Composite     LNER Teak running no. 4173 (introduced in 1988)
13014 Corridor Third         LNER Teak running no. 4237 (introduced in 1988)
13115 BCK                       BR Maroon running no. E10076E BR Maroon (introduced in 1991)
13116 TK/SK                    BR Maroon running no. E12451E BR Maroon (introduced in 1991)

In June 1956, third class accommodation in coaching stock was re-designated as second class by BR so the TKs became SKs.

The Minitrix Teak versions are more common and appear on eBay fairly frequently whereas the maroon Gresley coaches are much rarer.  The coaches are marked "Trix Germany"

Here is a photo of my two maroon Gresley coaches in their original packaging.

Hi all,

I'm planning to start revising this document for a 3rd Version for release sometime in Feb/March next year.

Since the last version was done in 2023, there have been a few updates that I need to do on it.

If anyone has any suggestions of new products/new features they would like me to try and include, please let me know.

Stu

PS - I do intend to write an addition to the introduction mentioning about some of the supplies who have closed (eg: n brass locos)

Don't know for sure who originally produced this listing of Union Mills models, its from the Facebook site, but thought it might help to identify models which may have come into East Anglia

Thanks @Greygreaser:thumbsup:

Have got most of the Union Mills locos. Shame he never did a J15 as wouldnt have been that far off the J25 as (I think) was the same CME (Glad to be corrected about this  :D )

Thanks also for the reminder that I need to add UM to the list of no longer trading.

Hi Stu;

No, the locos were designed one each by the brothers.

J15 by TW Worsdell, the J25 by W Worsdell. They did look very similar, though. TW's J21 was a pretty good match as well to the J15s.

TW did take his LNER F4 design to the NER, though, and a slightly enlarged design became the F8.

One problem with UM GER locos; the tender drive unit is way over scale for the Claud/B12, and I suspect the J25 is also over scale. The J15 tenders were rather small....though a model of a J15 would be useful for me!

I modified a UM J25 to a J15. The wheel spacing on the tender isn't correct but close enough for me  :)

martyn

I've admired that J15 before-a wonderful piece of modelling.

A thing of beauty.

Out of interest, the "J15" preserved on the NNR in GE guise is now described as a Y14, I believe the cab may have been different in GE days but that aside, is there anything else?

martyn

Y14 was the GER classification.

Technically, the J15 as preserved can't be a Y14, as it has an LNER design boiler, and the original GER design had different tubing, dome position, and, possibly, firebox arrangements. I'd need to check with the RCTS books about the latter.

Cab roofs were changed from a flattish canvas covered wood one to a more arched steel one.

Also, only the last 40 J15s had train brakes and heating, which wasn't fitted to the original Y14s.
