As an aside to the above discussion, I have just posted details on my 'Talking Pictures' thread of a short programme being shown next week on welded rails. Coincidence or what?  :hmmm:

David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

I can't see why the 'imitation load' is being used as the reasons we've not got anything,

YES they'll look brilliant loaded and I'd guess most people would want to run them loaded but dont they make as many journeys empty as they do loaded  :hmmm:

For me it's because unloaded it's just a load of non-descript flat wagons. Gotta go loaded!

Oh I don't know. All the roller banks and clamp modules add something  ;)

Note the long welded rail train in the yard too.

Go big or go home, Jo!

There may be a 150mm length of code 40 rail in the printer at the moment to test the viability  :smiley-laughing:

A RTR version would be a nice project for Rapido or Revolution.

I did think about name dropping Revolution as their working on the PW wagons at the moment but I reckon a manufacturer will always blame the length of the rake as justification for not even offering 'expression of interest '

Well if you win the lottery you could always commission them to do it.  :D
The KUA's were done that way.

I don't think that the length of the rake, per se, is the issue, so much as its suitability for the majority of layouts, sharp curves spring to mind.
People moan that stock can't cope with R2 curves, the curves on my layout are a minimum of 20" but I'd still be leery of CWR having sufficent flexibility to even go around those  :(

If you know someone who's depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn't a straightforward response to a bad situation; depression just is, like the weather.Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness, and loneliness they're going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It's hard to be a friend to someone who's depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest, and best things you will ever do."

Printed rail appears to be viable. It's very flexible. I sense a plan... :hmmm:

The N Scale Kits are 1:1 50' - so 8000 scale feet in 1:160.  A bit less in 1:144.   When I saw them they were molded in a rust brown color.  Fairly flexible although I am not sure what the minimum radius would be - certainly not 9".  Weighting the wagons as much as possible would help.

There is a video on the website.  http://www.nscalekits.co.uk/welded_rail.html
