Yes I am starting a thread on a possible APT-E in N Gauge!!

Paul Leadley, of Leadley Kits, is proposing to look into producing an N Gauge Kit of APT-E, off the back of Steve Hill's APT-P Model.

If you are interested in this happening then send Paul an email at Leadleykits@gmail.com with Subject matter of "Oh yes please".

Here is the RMWeb link https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/165311-leadley-kits-home-of-bespoke-railway-designs/page/5/#comment-4807367

A few of us have got Pauls kit of POP 1 & recently POP 2 and they are quite simple to put together, however I still haven't done my POP 1 yet  :-[ :-[

TBH I'd rather wait for Rapido to apply the shrink ray to their OO version.

I'm happy to bodge up a few coaches for a weed killing train, or a breakdown crane train, in a simple livery but not an entire APT-E.

Sorry folks

I have a vague memory of the team at Revolution doing an expression of interest in the APT, but it did not get enough interest to progress.
Maybe @Ben A or @red_death can comment.

Graham,

Yes they did and no it didn't, but not because Revolution didn't try, there were other factors that kind of put the kibosh on the project.

I would love Rapido to shrink their OO one down to N, but I suppose a lot of their decision making will go on how successful the 28 & Conflats are.

Cheers

Neal.

P.S. Damn, forgot to order the RTC 28  :veryangry: :veryangry:

I think a lot of us have gone Full Rule 1 and ordered a 28 or two, and a rake of Conflat Ps, in order to give Rapido the evidence that they want - that there is a buoyant N gauge market in the transition era (because Revolution has shown there is a buoyant market in modern image N).

I suspect that Revolution dropped the APT-E because Rapido entered the market, and it would no make sense to block them from shrinking their OO offering to N, but it has not been spoken about since they dropped it, so that is pure speculation.

Definitely. I have pre-ordered the Railway Technical Centre liveried 28 because it looks like it will be a stunning locomotive - both the base model and this rather interesting livery, but yes also because to encourage more new N gauge stuff.

I'd definitely go for an APT-E, would go well with the Prototype HST for starters.

Hopefully @ahardy will see this and order in a shrink ray :D

Craig

PS I'm sure they are well aware there are people asking for an APT-E prior to this.

I must admit I really had to umm & arrr deeply before ordering one, today, because even thought the RTC did have a 28, it never received RTC livery, but it does look nice.

Paul Leadley of Leadley Kits is canvassing interest in a 3D Printed APT-E. Paul has a lot of expertise in this area, having lead the APT-E Restoration Team at York and Shildon.
