Hi all,
...why only the TfW version I mean its great for those that model current day Wales (and a long over due), I get why they have an wouldn't do the Northern version as it would compete with the 319s but no GWR version or 768 which is literally a freight version?

I suspect they don't want to compete with the 319 in Northern that they are offering.  Having said that, being able to buy both the 319 and 769 in Northern livery may well have tempted some to purchase both...

Incidentally does anyone know where the TW 769s do operate?

cheers

Ben A.

Thats why it doesn't shock me they haven't done the northern version, but the GWR and the Orion 768s just seems a little odd leaving them out.

As for the route TfW are using the 769s on its the Penarth - Bargoed/Phymney services.
Mechanical issues can be solved with a hammer and electrical problems can be solved with a screw driver. Beyond that it's verbal abuse which makes trains work!!

People maybe referring to TW . Transport for Wales based Cardiff canton for Welsh valleys lines and Rhymney to penarth. Sadly nothing for me. Hope answers your question @Ben A . Northern will have some at Allerton, liverpool

I'm a bit confused...

In a few liverys such as BR green, they seem to only have announced a sound fitted 08, but not DCC ready. But then some shops such as Rails and Kernow show it for pre order, but at a lower price than the others. So if I place a pre order will I get a DCC ready 08 in green?

https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/63831/371-013-Graham-Farish-Class-08-13287-BR-Green-(Early-Emblem)

The green and blue were announced some years ago, I know as I've been waiting for the green one myself! They said in the video that these would now use the new chassis with DCC socket, and sound versions of these were part of todays announcement. I wouldn't be surprised if the price of these two rose to match the others, the chap said the price rise is on the 1st March didnt he?

Thanks. That's one pre-ordered.  :D

Bachmann's website lists all variants of the 08 in plain DCC ready and DCC Sound fitted versions. Unlike the class 40 and Castle, all liveries are available with sound fitted options.

There is a dearth of stuff for all these lovely new models to pull, we all know about batch production currently within the industry, but surely someone has looked at what happened to the MK2f's and went "Blimey, they sold well. Shall we look at doing another run and make some more money??"

You'd think so wouldn't you.... When was the last run of Maroon Mk1 SK, or blue-grey Mk2a TSO? 2014 & 2015 if ngauge.org is to be believed.

It's interesting that the latest announcements included relatively quick reruns of the Shark and Mermaid under the EFE brand. I believe these are produced at a third-party factory rather than one belonging to Kader/Bachmann/Farish.

With Bachmann having taken over and expanded the Thomas range from Hornby, together with the new 009 range and all their American models if they don't have enough factory capacity for all their "to-do" list.

It'd be nice to see some progress on the previously announced model like the class 158.

The Reasoning behind the OO JPA Cement wagons becoming collectors club models as it is too expensive for general sale breaks my heart.
The JPA in both Liveries is at the top of my freight wishlist in N as I would like to model the internal Scottish Cement trains (Oxwellmains to Uddingston/Inverness/Aberdeen) I could swallow the price (Or more likely sell a container train as id rather the cements which I see semi-regularly) but I wonder if this is what is needed to produce another batch in OO if it we will ever see a rerun in N.

It's one I always think about as a 3D print, as I'd quite like some O gauge ones. Just need to get around to it!
Could be an option. They are quite shiny when new which would be difficult to replicate. Alternatively you dump them in a bag of cement call it a day.

I had forgotten that Lafarge and Castle JPA were due in N gauge so still time for me to be proven wrong!
Think I need to do a bit of research and accounting to see if I can justify rebranding . I wouldn't need very many if I chose the right train, they were often mixed in with two wheelers and I have seen some silly short trains (3-6 wagons) in person (never seen a photo but the I always saw them in the middle of winter usually when it was still frosty and dark so it's unsurprising.)
A frustratingly modelable train until you get to the meat of it (For all the CargoWaggons no one does the correct built, the two wheeler Vee and straight tanks are are out there as older Models).

The 158 was breifly mentioned,  the tooling sample should be on display at Alexander Palace exhibition.

Without wishing to continue the tangent too far, Alclad do a range of stunning looking metallic enamels I'd be interested to try, it's part of my interest in the JPA! Definitely get a better finish than Farish did on the Lafarge ones.

It doesn't help that the Northern Electrics Livery was so short lived.

It was current when the 319 was announced - since then the White / Blue Northern scheme has had three changes of branding! I'm surprised not to see the 769 in Northern or GWR, as they have a potentially much greater sphere of operations.

Northern's 769s work Southport-Alderley Edge and Southport-Stalybridge services.

looking at the 08's hopefully the body is metal to retain the weight. Also as it has a NeXt18 socket, wonder if the board will have the solder pads to add some "stay alive", would make a big difference.

Surely it would have stay alive, given that its an 0-6-0 and the whole thing was redesigned, new chassis etc, looks there would be room ?

As a dc dinosaur, and steam to diesel transition modeler I have to say that I am seriously underwhelmed with a total lack of new tooling on the steam side. I hoped that after the 8F we would perhaps get an update of the 61xx prairie, king, crab or V2 but they seem to be going all out for the dcc camp. I can only hope that the next announcement in 3 months time will be more exciting. Where are the Thompson coaches in maroon?

Disgruntled,

If it makes you feel better the era you model is irrelevant. No new toolings here. Just a single new chassis.
