Update

Lots of info and some memories evoked (the steam hauled Saturday only 5.00pm stopping at  Burnham Bucks, when all else was diesel).

I found that there are a large number of D1000s available, especially on everyones favourite (!) auction site.

I've decided to buy the green model from Osbournes - good price.

Thanks for the help

Bob G

Well done that man!
Any reason why you don't need a maroon one as well????

I preferred the sand colour, but couldn't find one. My layoput is on a 6ft door, so I only need 5-6 locos.

When you have your full roster you will find there is a difference between *need* and *want*.
It happens to us all.

Enjoy the Green Western.

Osborn's still have some in stock, albeit weathered with SYP.

Thanks to this thread I find myself in a quandary now, I must admit, as I already have two Westerns, both old Farish Poole models. Dare I buy a Dapol one?

I have three Farish ones blue, green and maroon so bought a Dapol D1000 too!

Might have to have a desert sand version.......

I have a very nice D1000 in desert sand, NO yellow panel at all. As it first appeared. Custom painted by our god of paint from this parish. The mighty Ozymandias!

I can explain it to you...

...but I can't understand it for you.

I had a pristine desert sand one but then the weathered one came out so I sold the first to help pay for the second.
Here's the pristine one hauling some weathered bullets bought from crusty curmudgeon Allan @class37025
(I know this would never have occurred but indulge me)

 :laugh3:
oi you, I don't need anyone else picking on me.

looking at Mick's @Newportnobby photo, I can't help but wonder why he painted the bullets SR green and then disguised them as carriages, at least in the photo that loaded for me  :hmmm:

guest311

my apologies, Mick, didn't see any 'click here you old git to play fillem' icon.

obviously I must try harder in future  :-[

Mick @Newportnobby, finally managed to watch it, though did have to spend over five minutes of the circle of indecision on flikr before the play icon appeared.

but

WELL WORTH THE WAIT
