static grass applicator

hi everyone

i have an old electrified sieve type of applicator.

I'm just trying to decide whether to resurrect this or buy a proper one!

any thoughts?

does a cheap or home made one work just as well as a proper commercial one? i.e.noch. peco. wws etc?

has anyone experience of using different types and noticed any difference in the results?

I made one myself to the classic and cheap "fly swatter and sieve" design, it works quite well but I did also recently invest in a proper one from WW Scenics which is more effective I think. 

I'll probably convert my homemade one to a smaller tea-strainer or something for detail work

I recently purchased the Gaugemaster Puffer Bottle & it works OK for me.

I have a commercial one that seems to have died.
So I'm looking for another one,

What I really want is one with just a 1/2 - 1 inch nozzle on the output.. I've done most of the large areas, but getting into smaller corners for detail work is a pain..

Did your home made one work well for you? If so why spend lots of money on a commercial one? If I was to replace my home brew one I would include a lid on the fibre holder as a modification but I would not purchase a commercial version.

I have both the Peco applicators, they both work ok, but in the end I made a couple myself using a very high output ion generator and they work very well, the generators are almost at Tazer levels of output so have to be careful to not get to close to the grounding clip as the ark can jump an inch or so easily. I even made a big one with a 6 inch head for grassing large areas, the three I made all cost less than one Peco..

blimey you dont have a pacemaker do you ngm?!

im going to test my old one and see if it works ok and what the results are like. ive not used it for over 5 years.  i'll then decide whether to buy one or not.

i never really did layering before so need to practice that and get some hairspray or similar to use.

I bought one on eBay for about £19 (loads cheaper than the Peco one)- it works fine but I learned vey quickly you don't touch the grid with the button pressed!!
