Don't know much about em apart frpm them being grey imports.Grey imports refer to them being used in Japan and imported to the uk so people who can't afford UK market Mitsubishi Shogun's can still join the Chelsea Tractor set. Also, they have no rust proofing installed,as in Japan, after they get to five or six years old, they become prohibitively expensive to keep due to their very strict MOT type testing regime,so can be quite rotten before they get here.
I.don't know.if any of what I've written here is on the wikipedia article because I couldn't be bothered to read it all.

ok, i give up.... a little help....?

Sorry Paul & Mike.
For some strange reason, on checking the Wickedpedia link now it seems to have been altered to remove the crude Spanish translation of the word Pajero ???
Obviously SD35 saw what I was referring to, but I find it hard to believe their text has been amended just because I posted it here.
I can't mention the word without getting a rollicking - soz

Never mind ! That's my kind of luck  :smiley-laughing:

While we're on the subject of dodgy car names, did you know why the Vauxhall/Opel Nova was called Corsa in europe ? In spanish 'Nova' means 'No go' - pretty accurate really !

A quick Google seems to indicate that Pajero is Spanish slang for referee.  ;D

Oih! I've got a Corsa(Nova) and it has been a great car, much better than the Ford Escort which preceded it, I had a few translations of what that name meant, none suitable for a refined Forum such as this :smiley-laughing:

OK watch this it will break down tomorrow knowing my luck....

I'm a big Ford fan, but even I have to admit the last of the line Escorts were awful !

Yup, eventually one headlight would come on even with the ignition off for some reason and drain the battery overnight. Or, at the end it wouldn't start as the battery was drained after even a few minutes and I needed to use a battery booster pack to get it to life. After which when you got it started and arrived at your  destination and tried to turn the engine off it wouldn't stop and the only option was to stall it!

My tame independent garage said the engine management system was 'Donald Ducked' so it went to the scrappy!

SWMBO has my old Astra as 'run around', 116000+miles on the clock and still going strong! It had only one major breakdown whilst I had it. Hopefully the Corsa is the same.

Vauxhall 2, Ford nil!

Steady on !!! I've owned many fords over the years, apart from my mk6 escort ( which was rubbish at best) all of the fords i owned were VERY reliable - rust being the killer, which vauxhall are by no means immune to either... (to be fair i've also had 2 astra's and 3 cav's)

Not a fan of Shoguns/ Pajero's though... 4X4's should come American flavour only !  :smiley-laughing:
