I guess it is. It was expected to be dispatched yesterday but won't be leaving until Monday now. Must be weekend engineering works.  ;)

I recieved an email yesterday stating that it is ready for dispatch (unrelated to the specific conversation, but that info was dropped in and gratefully recieved), I'd expect that the Easter holiday period has had a hand in the delay.

Yeah, those pesky bank holidays occur so suddenly, unexpectantly and without warning that they can't be planned for months in advance.  :smiley-laughing:

Yep, you're right about the NGS, but I doubt that the printers and mailing house are volunteers. They are professional companies whose services are paid for, and were probably the ones that caused the delay. Besides, regardless of who is at fault, there's nothing wrong in seeing the irony in posted comments and having a laugh now and then; and it can get despressing when such amusement is continually denounced by finger wagging PC do-gooders.

The N gauge society have explained before that whilst we are a large organisation in the model railway world, we are small in the printing field so journal printing is alwys shoved aside for larger scale printing orders. The only way around this is to pay the printers more which will in turn nplace our subscriptions out of the league of many members.

I just joined the NGS at the York show last weekend and am currently hopping between the handbook and the Jan/Feb journal (and of course this forum) and I think they are great

Hi Marty.

I too am a recent member to the NGS and NGF and i must say i enjoy the manual/journals and of course this forum. Its a great hobby. Just received a few wagons from the NGS too very happy.

On the issue of late mail outs: i wrote the club magazine for the historic fire engine club i belonged to and took the mag from a newsletter to a proper looking mag. It not only went to members but to state library and government dept as well(not sure why but told it had to) and after a few whingers(usually the same) after a few years i just gave up. Apparently i was not doing the "job" god enough, funny how you put your hand up to do something for free but got no support money wise but still managed to do it between working a 12 hr day with 6hrs travel each day to/from work ontop (yes a very long day away from the family), raising a young family with a new addition. And they wonder why no one put there hand up after i "walk away from the hobby". Any one want to buy a couple of vintage dennis fire engines?.

Thumbs up to the volunteers at the NGS and here too!

I have been a member of the NGS for about 4 years now and I have to admit that I rarely look at the dates for when the Journal is going to be sent - this way I can still get the excitement of coming in from a hard days work, seeing the journal on the doormat and knowing that I can relax with a magazine packed full of N Gauge!!

And I agree with Bart - having helped my ex-wife edit, print and distribute a small club newsletter, there are always people who would complain that "It was late" or "something in it was wrong/inaccurate" or all the other things that could go wrong with such small print runs (photocopied on works copier - with the managers authority and paid for I hasten to add!) My thanks just go out to anyone who volunteers to keep all the good things in this world going for us fans and hobbyists!
