For a change from the norm I just had a rather nice surprise buying on eBay  :D

Sunday morning I ordered a new multi-meter, the seller claimed to be in the UK with UK stock, (how many times have we seen that with China based sellers) although the listing did say it would be delivered tomorrow (Thursday).

Sunday afternoon i got a message to say its been posted,  not sure how they managed that on a Sunday so just assumed it meant they had bought the postage online and would post on Monday (If I was lucky.

Sop sat back and expected the usual 3 week delivery from China

You could have knocked me down with a feather when a 5 to 9 Sunday evening there was a knock at the door and there was a courier with my Multi-Meter

11 hours from order to delivery, that's what you call a service and it was with free delivery

Obviously it was a seller using Amazon Prime for his drop shipping and had I been a Prime customer I may have got it cheaper had I looked on Amazon but I don't so didn't pay any extra in the end.

Sometimes it all works out.

Even if you use Royal Mail for shipping it automatically confirms despatch to the buyer when you generate the shipping label. Bit annoying, as you now actually have a week to post, it used to be that you had to post before the end of the next working day. But that's why you often get "despatch confirmation" 30 seconds after buying.

Yes, ebay sellers using Prime is rather common.  2 or 3 years ago I found a very cheap brand new Arnold loco on ebay - almost too good to be true but I took a risk on it, and sure enough it turned up via Prime.  I found the listing on Amazon and bought another one even cheaper :D    I don't usually think to watch Amazon for N gauge so useful that the ebay seller did it for me!
