What is this Kato Ballast, I'm going to have to look that up now!

Kato part number 24-039.  I sprinkle it onto PVA wood glue on layer of cork tile.  The track and surrounding cork I stick down with Copydex adhesive

Any suggestions for a place that defines rail network terminology?

Some of the more common ones here, Brad..............

Thank you Newportnobby, that Kato Ballast looks really nice and blends in very well, I can't wait to get to that stage, I'll defiantly be using that!

Thanks for the terms link, it's really good especially the diagrams with descriptions of the different track configurations, that's great!

Well finally got another shipment of track, tools, rolling stock and my favorite Norfolk and Southern SD40-2 with DCC and Sound, it's a Broadway Limited and it's amazing, a few pics of it and the test tracks...  I didn't realize how many power points are required with Kato Unitrack, glad I did the test tracks before the final order.  The final order should be here in less than 2 weeks!!!! Soo cant wait!

Please note it's not possible to post vids direct to the forum so you'll need to use a host such as YouTube, Flickr etc.
We do like 'em, though :)

Well the track and parts finally arrived, spend all last night after work popping track!!!

Love this Kato Unitrack, so easy, working on the wiring tonight, now the work begins!

Sorry so many pictures, I'm just so happy a big shipment has arrived, not knowing Kato power and wiring requirements, I'm waiting for more terminal joiners so I can power everything.

I'm keeping the industrial areas flexible for now not sure what industry I want, I'm thinking sawmill, lumber yard, furniture factory and other small industries.  The layout is a bit small for Inter-model and flood loading coal, perhaps dome grain or other milling industries too.

I still should have a bit of room for a small town if i plan it right but for now I have a lot of wiring on my hands...

Hope you like, any suggestions are greatly appreciated as always.

I'll post tomorrow on my website, www.chainswords.com so I can get some videos of the the layout.

Thanks for checking out my post!

Brad

You'll love it Brad. One thing I would suggest is that when you have connected a few pieces together, run your finger, carefully, over the joins. This will show you any that are not spot on. There is plenty of advice on the forum - and the net - regarding Kato track. Take your time and enjoy it.

Thanks, yea I did have to do a finger run of the track, they do not always lock right even though they feel like they do.

Haha literally as I was replying had a big derailment and found a wedged joiner throwing cars, horrible acid and grain wreck LOL JK, just role-playing!
