Quite some time ago I purchased a used dapol diesel cl 66 i think, when it arrived i had to fiddle about putting the shaft back into its correct place for it to run.
My next Dapol purchase was an A4, cant remember which way round it was but in one direction the leading pony trucks would constantly derail, other direction leading pony trucks and main drive wheels would derail, this has been put into the obligatory box of bits to fix, even tho it was brand new and I could have returned for repair.
My next Dapol engine to buy was a brand new diesel class 56, never been out of its box still and had it around a year.
Only dapol I would buy now would be wagons or very cheap engines with a view to repairing.

 George:

My reply #10

I need my glasses: it's not a B17 either, it's a B1.

Humbly.

And sorry.

The Dapol 2-8-0s seem to be generally reliable, perhaps because the extra axle offsets the pick-up issues with the 3500gall tender that afflict the Manor and Grange models. Models with the larger 4000gall tender (Halls and some Granges) also seem less trouble-prone.
