Dapol Driveshaft..... (Sorry!!)
« on: April 05, 2020, 04:46:38 PM »

Hi i am a newbie to this forum and indeed N Gauge. I have recently purchased a used Dapol Loco with tender. It came as a non runner which i have tracked down to a missing driveshaft. I have looked at the previous correspondence on this subject - but does someone have a spare driveshaft i can buy from you (DCCsupplies state they do not carry the part!) or is there someone out there who can supply me with a good scale drawing so i can get my own metal version made up.

All help gratefully appreciated

Mark

You need to say what loco it is - they all use different length shafts and some have different sized couplings, so don't assume any old Dapol driveshaft will fit.

Buy a Dapol Grange shaft - that should fit (same chassis).

Also check the shaft hasn't dropped inside the loco.
 :beers:
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

Nah - i don't think anything is inside the engine and nothing that looks like it would fit or act as a driveshaft is included in the bags that came with the loco. Valuable lesson learnt looking and reading some of the archive about handling the loco's etc. Again thanks all for your help - I will await the parts of DCC and see where we are then.

thanks all

Amazing - the new part (x2) arrived this morning! very impressive service. I shall get my lad with eagle eyes to fit for me when he is free.
