Hello from Durham, the other one, North Carolina
« on: March 10, 2020, 06:18:29 PM »
Hi, Im new here and fairly new to n gauge too. Ive had a layout for about a year, mostly Japanese trains. I am now looking to branch out into British Rail trains and Im looking forward to receiving my first train, house, and station models.

There's a fine line between a terrible paint job and a masterpiece of weathering.

Welcome to the forum.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.

Welcome aboard Jon!
We are indebted to those soldiers who served with courage and distinction to bring peace to Northern Ireland, UK Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said. The welfare of our former service personnel is of the utmost importance.

Thanks for the welcome, folks.

Yes, the majority of my trains are Kato. The E127 2-car EMU, the Hankyu 6300 4-car EMU, the All Around the Kyushu 7-car set, the JR Kyushu DE10 pulling nine various black industrial freight wagons, the C157 steam loco and the three Banetsu Monogatari coaches, the EF510-500 and 14 of the 15 Koki wagons are Kato. Overall Im very happy with their quality and appearance, and prices are very good.
The Blue Symphony 3-car EMU and a track maintenance vehicle are by Greenmax. Their quality is good but occasionally they cut corners (e.g. gaps between coaches).
The five-car version of the train suite Shikishima and one Koki wagon are by Tomix. Generally they provide decent quality and value.
The twin DH11z diesels and the 16 coal wagons they pull my only non- Japanese train right now are made by Minitown. The attention to detail here is outstanding and justifies the cost of importing, in my opinion, although the running has been a little finicky on my Kato Unitrack layout.
