Good morning Forum, here's hoping not too many bad heads this morning!!!!!

Well it seems after bringing my good lady virtually to tears with endless research and the odd expenditure  every now and again, she really does listen.

Christmas eve she shut herself away in the dining room and all I heard was endless cutting of paper, attempts at singing to the radio and a few huffing and puffing sessions followed by her striding across into the lounge with a roll of sellotape and no end!!!!!!!

This only happened because I used most of the dispenser attached tape the night before wrapping her presents. It take dodgy sized rolls and we dont have any spares so I got in first 

Inbetween all of my dinner preparations we actually opened our presents in front of the lounge fire this year and my lot kept coming and coming.

Clearly all my useless rambles to her didn't go unnoticed as this is what I received


And I must say I was more then happy with what shed managed to work out what I needed and wanted. Yes I have no static grass glue but my model shop (that does have it on the shelf is open tomorrow)

I've never been a fan of Jason Plato in the 25years I've followed the BTCC BUT happy to admit my opinion of him this year is changing, hes still a marmite character but as I'm getting older I understand the passion, pressure and desires people have and hes definitely someone I would shake hands with and spend a few hours chatting too, others in the paddock have now taken his undesirable place!! So I'm hoping it will be a good read.

A fairly quiet day for us today work wise so I might even get a few hours on the layout sorting through photos and trying to decide which tree best matches that one!!!

Head's not too bad. Myself and the good lady both, due to work on her part and some work but mainly laziness on mine, have most of our presents to each other arriving in the next few days as they were ordered on line too late. The good news is we're going to have a New Years Eve present opening party at home so something to look forward to  .

However, I did get a Minitrix SNCF locomotive, tested last night and runs lovely  , Bombay Sapphire Gin  , a scratchcard which won £20  and lots of chocolate so I'm a happy bunny.

But especially the CJ Allen booklet has some surprising conclusions, not always in agreement with what was written immediately after the trials when the data hadn't been properly analysed.

Having trained my relatives years ago to get me Rails of Sheffield vouchers I now have enough to afford the Farish 8F (when it appears ) along with some choccy biccies and a book on the Tour de France + a Green Bay Packers mug from a certain fellow member in Fife.

I got (another) book by Clive Lamming, the French railway history guru, about the various jobs done by railwaymen since the early days.

I was finally allowed to open the Poole Farish 8F, courtesy of the @Newportnobby megastore.  (Which, I have to say, hauls a far longer train than the current Farish WD does...) And I was given a new hat to replace the much-loved, but old and misshapen titfer that has been relegated to dog-walking duties this many a year. Plus the odd bottle of grown-up grape juice and some cash to spend.

I had a Peco annual from my lovely Wifey, but nothing else. To be fair though there hasn't been anything that I actually wanted which meant the surprise delivery of the RevolutioN Sturgeons pre-Christmas was a mega bonus and really appreciated.

I managed to lose over a pound in weight over Christmas Day, probably through worrying about my mother who has spent her first Christmas day with us since she entered a local care home (she has dementia). It all went well enough but the stress levels were very high - but we still managed to have about ten hours sleep, waking up at 9.45 on Boxing Day!!!

Happy to wait for the Sturgeons as my Christmas treat, and am aiming to put the pound back on today Bubble and squeak day

I got some railway books from number one son, and some Metcalfe kits and Oxford vehicles from my daughter.

My wife bought me the Revolution KUA's.

But the biggest surprise present was the birth of our 2nd granddaughter on Saturday 21st.

She was very early, 25 weeks, but is doing well on a specialist neonatal unit in Oldham.

Some N scale items posted in another thread on here, a few books and one railroad related game on Steam. Also got several large photo collages of my older railfan photos in a frame..should look nice once I get all of them up in the train room. Also got a CBJ shirt too.
