just snagged a number of Airfix 1:72 Buccaneer S.2B kits off fleabay, and looking to build them as possibly a series of 208 sdn a/c.

when I was in the Gulf, we had 8 and 208 as the resident sdns, both with Hunters [T7 / FR10 / FGA.9], 8 went on to fly Shack AEWs [Airfix and Revell produce] we had the MR versions at Ballykelly in my time there, while 208 went on to operate the Buccaneer.

the Airfix kit comes with Sea Eagle and Martel missiles, but what sort of 'normal' loads could I add instead of missiles.

the kit comes with both plain and bulged bomb bay doors, IIRC they rotate rather than open.
did the different types affect the internal bomb load ?

photos I've found have shown a/c with and without slipper tanks, even with what looks like refuelling pods like in the Victor K.2, as well as missiles and ? 1,000 lb ? iron bombs.

but what other options are there ?

any thoughts / suggestions would be very welcome.

I rode 5th seat on a few AAR sorties were 208's Buccs were amongst the customers. All had bulged bomb bays - and yes the one-piece door rotated. I don't recall what ordnance, if any, they carried on the wing hardpoints. I seem to recall from briefings/debriefings that they mainly carried 500lb Snake Eyes.

They carried Red Beards from the Canberra didn't they???

Originally a RN a/c all RN munitions could be wing mounted. Martel anti radar but that might of been for RN rather then RAF  :uneasy:

Doors rotated as traditional opening would get torn off in high speed or low level raids.
