LED flourescent tubes
« on: November 08, 2019, 07:54:50 AM »
Due to me being careless, I let the tailgate of the car hit and smash one of my LED FT's in in the garage. I now have a 5 ft strip of smd's  on a very thin length of damaged printed circuit tape.  Do you think I will be able to utilise these as a source of lighting on my layout please? TIA.
Cheers, Trev.

Yes. It could involve some fiddly work, tidying up the end and resoldering connections, but definitely doable.

Yes, but...

You'll need to figure out how they are wired. Assuming they are mains powered, the LEDs may be in a long string requiring a high voltage. That's the most efficient way but does introduce a single point of failure at each LED. In practice it will be somewhere between this and every LED in parallel.
