just been watching some clips on youtube of aircraft in the mach loop in Wales ....

some USAF F-15s, shot against lovely skies, oblivious didn't want to get too low  [top guns indeed], then a formation of four USAF MC-130s, low over the valleys ...

then a RAF A-400 Atlas,  lovely view of the TOP of the wings as it passed through the valleys below the photographers......

RAF RULES

perhaps it's because they do their training over flat deserts, certainly do not seem to like to see mountains above them on either side  :)

check out the RAF A-400 Atlas at 3:34 on this clip ....

a big plane to fly so low through the loop

even the USAF 'bus driver' in the C-17 [?] around the 15:00 mark put a lot of the so called top guns to shame  :D

Another good clip of the C-17
here.

and of course the Chinook pilots, who seem to get giddy if they go higher than 250 ft.

always a joy to hear / see them come over us, we seem to be on a route for them, and Apaches, also used to get Merlins, but of course they were passed on to that lot who mess about in boats  :smiley-laughing:

I must take a trip up there one day soon while my legs still stand a chance of getting me up the hill!

RAF C-130s at the start of this clip are almost too far down to appreciate ....

wanna be mud movers ?

Some of those clips remind me of when the boss and I were up Aonoch Mor one day. I heard a familiar sound and said to Della, "Thats' a GR1 coming" of course out of habit we both looked up before realising it was hundreds of feet below us  ::) And it was one of my old lot from the RAF's premier Squadron, Après moi le déluge chaps  ;)

guest311

would love to see a Lanc flying through the loop.

so, 617 is premier ?

think I'll go dig a foxhole and hide  :smiley-laughing:

:D I'm happy to let Lawrence go uncorrected on that one. :D

I've just been watching a biographical documentary on Rudyard Kipling. Naturally there was much reference to WW1 - "If any question why we died / Tell them, because our fathers lied.". It put me in the mood to have a browse of the RBL's Poppy store. Whichever Branch or Unit of Service in which you served or which you support, you can find a specific Poppy pin for most here.

thanks for link, but couldn't find Snowdrops listed, apart from 3 tac police sdn rauxaf.

managed to get a RAFP pin + poppy pin on fleabay.

marked difference between the F-15s and GR.4s on this clip ....

Loving the 29 Squadron Typhoons in that clip. 8)

must admit, thought they were fighters, up in the wide blue yonder, not mud movers  :smiley-laughing:

bet most of the RAF a/c had warnings screaming "pull up, pull up, low altitude" while most of the yanks were being reminded to check they were on oxygen due to high altitude  >:D
