Sfins2 IWA Hold-all fan and IWA timber carrier.

Already announced in 00, Revolution is confirming that these vehicles will also be offered in N.

The holdall vans were originally produced in the late 1980s and used on fertiliser, steel, paper, mineral water and clay traffic among other things.  Most were in Cargowaggon livery though some carried Norsk Hydro branding.

In 2012 40 were converted to timber carriers by having the covers removed and stakes fitted along each side.

Revolution plans to offer both versions.  CAD is underway and the order book is likely to open toward the end of the year.

At last - something for my Colas class 60 to pull - I think I need to stop looking at these threads - everyone of them I have read so far this morning is a 'want'

Hello all,

We have been sent a first image of the CAD as it comes together.  This is for the timber carrying IWA, which has the UIC code Rfnoos.

I am expecting the full 3D file for this version, and the original hold-all van variant, in the next few days and will post images when I do.

We will be opening the order book for these models soon.

Cheers

Ben A.

They do, the composition varies wildly, from all IWAs, to all KSAs (the NGS kits) and various mixes; you canít really get it wrong.

If you search YouTube for Colas log train there are dozens of videos of the flows with 56, 60, 66 and 70 haulage. The two types are markedly different, so spitting them is relatively straightforward. There are a couple of variants of the IWA ones, I donít profess to be an expert!

Hi all,

My understanding is that there are three basic types.

The first ones were converted from the Habfis vans that Dapol do.  I looked at doing a similar conversion but the chassis part is very thick, in part because of the coupling mech.

Then some of the Rover KSA vans were converted (around 20 I think) and these are covered by the NGS kit.

Lastly, 40 GERS Sfins vans were converted in 2012 and these are the Revolution model.  As Nick says, you could run a train with just these types, but I think it's more fun to mix it up a bit.

The NGS kit is, I feel, straightforward though if you add all the tie down ratchets on each side it's a little time consuming.

I am pretty excited about this model, as to me it seems to fill a big RTR gap...

Cheers

Ben A.

Totally agree Ben, not least as theyíre visually interesting when loaded too. I certainly plan to mix up my KSA rake!

Yes. Just click on Shop > N gauge and you have both the van version and timber carrier available for order.

Cheers Mike
