Hello and a very happy new year to you all.

Progress has been a little slow as of late with Ainsley CMD, but recently I have decided to move the layout up into the loft (as a 1989 Ford Escort XR3i now takes up most of my garage - but that's another story)

So since the last update, we now have a boxed in fiddle yard and suitable lighting (a 4' LED batten) that will soon be installed. Lighting is something I need to add to Sutton St. Annes, so this will be the guinea pig layout for that.

MDF sealer, wood filler, primer and paint are next on the list the for fiddle board... Also there are areas on the main board that will need filling, sanding and further painting.

Beings I have the layout permanently up in the loft for the time being, I have taken full advantage of testing, this includes slow speed shunting with the 08 and 37. The rail heads and wheels do really need to be kept clean with this DCC malarkey! It's all a learning curve though.

You can see from the above photo that replacing the sleepers is also on the list of jobs, then its a case of finally getting on with the scenics and setting the scene for what basically is a railway infrastructure scrap yard...

Cheers
Anthony

Ainsley CMD Portakabin / Site Office.

This is standard Knightwing kit, built and painted. Note the added venetian blinds...

I *really* like this. This is the first time that I have seen a Knightwing kit and that looks almost perfect for a kit-bash for something that I need on my layout. Thanks for the tip Anthony!

Thank you ever so kindly.

Its a cracking little kit and hopefully easily obtained for yourself? As I see you down in sunny Aus 8) Here's a link for one on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Knightwing-PN10-Portakabin-Pacemaker-N-Gauge/401946084231?epid=24004597326&hash=item5d95da8387:g:QnoAAOSwjJddwDSY

It's item number PN10. I built the kit, but left the roof off. Sprayed the main body with my airbrush and then roof. The rest was hand painted to finish.

Cheers

Evening all

Here's another little building I've recently knocked together. This will be the weighbridge office & shunters mess. It is actually based on a real building which still stands, but derelict at Forders sidings in Bedfordshire (Bedford - Bletchley line) Being a Network Rail employee does have its perks :camera:

This wee building is on my patch so I've been able to measure it up and model it in 2mm. I have marked on the photo below where I plan on having the weighbridge and mess room.

From studying photos, it's very similar to the weighbridge office which once stood at Northampton CMD. I think it will do just nicely. It's just a case of wrapping her in brick paper now and adding the etched windows.

Cheers

No mate, the Portakabins went years ago, along with Rugby PSB sadly. We are now in the new fancy Hi-Tech ROC (Rail Operating Centre)

Afternoon all

Got a very nice **rare** modelling day to myself :D

The weighbridge office / mess room is now complete.

I hear it's very cosy and warm inside, in the winter months. Roaring open fire, comfy sofa, a choice of 4 channels on the TV! Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits and from time to time Berts wife bakes a lovely victoria sponge

This has been modelled with;

1mm colourmount card
Scalescenes brick paper
A selection of Ratio etched windows
Ratio chimney
Black ash scatter on roof
The TV antenna is etched nickle affixed on 0.3mm wire. Pack says Gold Medal Models (1992) Had this in my model box for years! Knew they would come in handy one day.

Also note I have modelled it with the door ajar. Something you rarely see on N gauge buildings.

Next up is a selection of 3D printed catch pit drainage pipes which I have painted. These will be placed in a pile, in the yard. Inspiration photo - https://flic.kr/p/Udf9rj

Cheers
