NGS Journal 4/19
« on: July 25, 2019, 09:38:01 AM »
Dear all,

Hopefully those of you who are members of the NGS will be getting their copy of 4/19 today or tomorrow. Various people helped me get my first issue prepared, and they're hopefully all acknowledged on the contents page. To them, my thanks!

My aim was to maintain the focus on modelling that Grahame Hedges sought, but to take step backwards and let the members 'do the talking'. So apart from the editorial, my only contribution is a single review (Wagon Yard) in the News section. Of course this will only work if people continue to submit material, whether articles, photographs, or letters. So please do get writing!

Cheers, NeMo

PS. A quick shout-out to our own @Cooper (and photographer Paul Bason) for their photo of Horseblock Lane featured on the cover.

Congratulations NeMo! I'll look forward to the rattle of the letterbox. :beers:

The N Gauge Journal has just arrived. Well done to the new editor, Neale Monks! I love the modern look of it. I haven’t read it all yet, but it looks like a great first issue. A daunting task I’m sure!  ;D

You're being ridiculous, it will, of course, come through your letterbox upside down already.

hopefully mine arrives next week, as I will be away for 4 weeks, and I would like to take it with me to read. However given Australia Post it will probably arrive the day after I leave.

Mine arrived today and very good it is, too! Under the circumstances of the transition, it's even more impressive.

I like the cleaner, simpler layout - although I'm disappointed you didn't take the opportunity to find a more attractive typeface  :P.

Excellent variety of content, too. Keep up the good work, Neale

We did actually try out a variety of typefaces, but ended up sticking with the same one as before. But this is something we will surely revisit. One change we have made is to stop justifying the text, which I think introduces weird spaces between (and sometimes within) words that doesn't help readability.

Excellent variety of content, too. Keep up the good work, Neale

Will certainly try to do so!

Cheers, NeMo

Hi Neale,

I echo the comments made already.

Good looking edition - just great!

Hi Neale,

Very impressed and I really like the new layout.  A fantastic achievement at Grahame is not an easy act to follow.

Kind regards

Paddy

Excellent start.
I would like to see all descriptions of layouts having a track diagram though the Editor can do nothing if there is none provided to him.
Well done Neale
