Layout update Muldoverton to Larchton and Birchwood
« on: July 22, 2019, 05:03:19 PM »
Again its been a while since I posted on progress with the layout. There is still a great deal left to do but the following are pictures of how it looks today. I'm at the stage of finishing the buildings (several more to build yet) and starting on the scenery. Nothing is fixed down apart from walls, platforms and paving, the reason for this is all buildings have either been fitted or are being fitted with lighting and will be taken off before I start on the scenery.

I have looked at these new static applicators and wonder if they work as well as shown in the adverts I've seen. I'd also like to know what colour I should use before I apply grass if I go with the static type.

That looks to be a good and well made collection of Metcalfe buildings Terry.
As for static grass applicators. Yes, they do work and work well.
As for a base colour to go underneath the grass, for me itís either a medium green or brown or, better still in my opinion, lay a base of green scatter material first.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.

Thank you for the info I would never have thought to put flock down first. I like the Metcalfe buildings easy to adapt to my needs they are easy to modify and fit in with what I'm looking to achieve.

This is a picture of a recent kit build

I've installed four warm white Led's in series with a 2.2k ohm 1/4 watt resistor to dim them down a bit. They then connect to a standard 12v DC supply and draw only 20milli amp. The interior is divided into sections and the walls blacked out I used black electrical tape to stop light bleed through the card. It also helps if you abrade the led's which gives a better light dispersion.
