THIS TUESDAY COMING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Carnforth (10:36), the steam locomotive will be added train for the run up to Carlisle. Departing Hellifield at Carnforth at 11:24, the locomotive will steam through Oxenholme Lake District (11:38) and Penrith (12:16) before arriving into Carlisle at 12:36.

On the return trip, the steam locomotive will depart Carlisle at 15:15 before heading via Ribblehead (16:32) and Hellifield, where the train will arrive at 16:52. Here, the steam locomotive is detached from the train dIESEL FROM Chester to carnforth

diesel locomotive, will depart Chester at approximately 07:48 am.  Frodsham around 08:05 for a 5-minute break, departing at 08:10. The diesel locomotive will then make stops at Warrington Bank Quay (08:30), Wigan North Western (09:11) and Leyland (09:27) and Preston (09:35) to pick up passengers.


Departing at 17:10, the diesel locomotive will make the same stops as the outbound train. This is Blackburn (additional stop at 18:05), Preston (18:33), Leyland (19:07), Wigan North Western (19:37), Warrington Bank Quay (20:03) and Frodsham (20:19).

The train will arrive back into Chester (20:42).

Down south :


61306 will head from London Waterloo to Chertsey and return in the evening, after hauling The Royal Windsor Steam Express in the morning, timings for which can be found here.

Departing London Waterloo at 1925, the train will pass through Clapham Junction (19:34), Barnes (19:45), Twickenham (19:50), Feltham (19:56), Staines (20:19), Chertsey (20:36).

From Chertsey, the train will head via Woking (21:05), Guildford (21:20), Shalford (21:25), Redhill (21:54), South Croydon (22:10), Selhurst (22:19), Herne Hill (22:39), Brixton (22:47) to arrive into London Waterloo at 23:00.

Tyseley Steam Trust at 09:11, it will pass through Small Heath (09:22), Water Orton (09:47), Tamworth (09:57), Burton-on-Trent (10:10), Ilkeston (10:53), Chesterfield (11:16), Bolton-on-Dearne (12:47), Church Fenton (13:20) and York NRM at 15:58.

The Dorset Coast Express
Thursday 8th August 2019


train leaves London Victoria station at around 08:45 steam hauled by No.60009 Union of South Africa and travels westwards, crossing the River Thames at Barnes Bridge, through Kew and Feltham.  A stop at Staines and Wokingwill be made vto pick up further passengers. At Winchfield, we pause for our steam locomotive to take on water before continuing to our final pick up point at Basingstoke.

The train heads down  the South Western Main Line at Worting Junction and takes the Bournemouth Line, heading south through Winchester and Southampton , Bournemouth to set down those passengers wishing to visit this coastal resort,then there are spectacular views of Poole Harbour. Service continues to Wareham and Dorchester travelling through the Dorset countryside and delightful scenery,arrival at Weymouth around 13:45


Return from Weymouth diesel hauled at around 16:40 as far as Southampton, from where the steam locomotive will take over for the return journey. We continue through Winchester to Basingstoke, where we stop to set down passengers and for our steam locomotive to take on water. We then continue Woking and Staines, where we stop to set down passengers, and on to our final destination at London Victoria.

even i knew of this as my aunt has to catch a train and called me to check so even saturday realtime trains and the last two weeks trains were diverted crewe - manchester - lostock hall / bolton BUT today the line is open !!!!

Please do not forget both  the preston /hellifield dalesman tomorrow and york scarborough hopeful galatea. Railadvent.co.uk is being inaccurate and unhelpful down.further information later when i have time

Scarborough Steam Train running this Thursday45699 Galatea will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in York and Seamer on Thursday 8th August 2019.

The Jubilee locomotive is hauling the York to Scarborough leg of the Scarborough Spa Express, which originates in Carnforth.

The heritage diesels will depart Carnforth at 07:09 am and will pass through Lancaster (07:29), Preston (07:53), Blackburn (08:37), Accrington (08:47), Burnley Manchester Road (08:55), Hebden Bridge (09:22), Brighouse (09:42), Wakefield Kirkgate (10:15), and York Holgate Loop (10:53), where 45699 will be added.

The steam locomotives will depart York at approximately 12:09 am.

The railtour will then leave York, bound for the Scarborough, where it will steam through Malton (12:45) and Seamer (13:09) before arriving at Scarborough at 13:17.

After around 4 hours at the seaside town, 45699 Galatea will depart for Carnforth, steaming through Seamer (17:20) and Malton (17:44) before arriving at York at 18:15, where the steam locomotive is taken off the train and is replaced by diesel locomotives.

From York, the diesel locomotives will head back to Carnforth via Wakefield Kirkgate (19:48), Hebden Bridge (20:46), Accrington (21:22), Blackburn (21:33), Preston (22:05), Lancaster (22:42) and Carnforth (22:58).


DOWN to THE DORSET coast

70000 Britannia will be on the mainline this Thursday as it heads to the Welsh capital of Cardiff.

The tour departs Preston behind a diesel locomotive at 06:40, the train will then pass through Wigan North Western (06:57), Warrington Bank Quay (07:26), Hartford (07:54) and Crewe at 08:12.

Here, 70000 Britannia is added to the train, departing Crewe at 08:42, the train will pass through Whitchurch (09:02), Shrewsbury (09:48), Craven Arms (10:21), Leominster (10:40), Hereford (10:57), Abergavenny (12:15), Newport (12:45) and Cardiff Central (13:03).

The return trip will depart Cardiff at 16:47, it will pass through Newport (17:12), Abergavenny (17:42), Hereford (18:10), Ludlow (19:52), Shrewsbury (21:02), Whitchurch (21:28) and Crewe at 21:56.

Here, 70000 Britannia is taken off the train, and is replaced by the diesel again. Departing Crewe at 22:26, the train will pass through Hartford (22:41), Hartford (22:41), Warrington Bank Quay (22:56), Wigan North Western (23:16) and Preston at 23:37.

The Dalesman usually runs on Tuesdays but UK Steam Info has it as having run yesterday :confused2:
