I suspect the original wasn't pin sharp, which would have made hiding the joins in the alteration easier.

Yes the loco was scrapped in 1965 according to Wikipedia, so itís a rather old image!

Yes the loco was scrapped in 1965 according to Wikipedia, so itís a rather old image!

And Bibby Line was rebuilt in April '56, so the original photo was from at least 63 years ago.

She was only the second Merchant Navy to be rebuilt (following British India Line) so maybe the photo is genuine and the guys at Eastleigh misread the drawings  ;D
