To say nothing of the proposed revolution/Sonic 56xx and the maybe DJ Models 43xx Mogul.
Oh dear :worried:

I have a set of etches from Bill Bedford, but haven't found the courage or skill to build them yet. As I'm working on Welwyn North  in the early 30s the SJ is a must have!

Snowwolflair

I have one of Bill Bedford's sets and one of the Worsley sets.  They both look good however with noticeable differences in construction and some detail.  I have them planned for a build later in the year once I am happy with the best type of bogie to use.  I am specifically waiting for the NGS bogies to be available again.

Cutter and Snowwolflair, you're very lucky to have some of Bill's etches. I saved up for some (the quad set) and then found out he'd stopped producing them. From what I've seen of the 4mm examples, they make up into very nice coaches.

Snowwolflair, have you thought about the 2mm Association etched bogies? They make up nicely with the only difficult bit being ensuring that the axle boxes are put on squarely. Here is my build of an 8' bogie for use with a full brake (when I build it!).

They do both the standard and heavy versions of Gresley's 8'6 bogie as well (but sadly not a 10' version).

Mine are fitting with N gauge wheel sets sold by the 2mm Association. They also sell adaptor axles for use with Farish spoked and disk wagon wheels. One thing you will need is a set of micro tapered broaches to open up the etched holes to take the bearings. These can be picked up for around £12 at various shows. The bearings will need to be purchased separately via the 2mm shop but they are £5 for 50.

Advantages included that they are pretty much scale width and can be built with or without the step boards. The disadvantage (if you're not confident with a soldering iron that is) is that they really need to be soldered together for the best results.

Broaches I have and soldering would be my preference.  I'm a 2mm member so I will order some up and see how I find them.

Thanks for the advice
