Hi All

Photos of the following new releases

Green Goddess
Jaguar XF - BRG
VW Beetle - Black
Hillman Imp - Tangerine
Discovery 4 - Ipanema Sand

All seem nice models and in scale (although I have not checked)
Painting is good but metallic finishes, as usual, not as sharp as Tomytec cars, the Green Goddess does have the issue with the areas around the windscreen not being painted but surprisingly it is not noticeable on the model itself, seems to show up more on photos

There is a new announcement in the next few days. It will not be an interactive event on Facebook this time, due to various pressures on time at Oxford and Hornby. Probably for the best because last time some people were quite insulting to the Oxford Team simply because their area of interest was not strongly favoured. There are also some strictures on Oxford making announcements on a private site, in view of their proximity to Hornby, a PLC with a 49% holding in Oxford’s parent.

Insults to the Oxford team because releases didn't fit in with their wishes/desire...some people need to get a grip on things, seriously!

I am often agog at some of the design teams choices, but hey, it's a hobby not life threatening!!!

That is very sad to hear, I have listened in as it were for most of the last few years. It was a great exercise in communication and gave a little something special to end user instead of the usual suspects retailers and stock market.

I find it strange that any one should wish to insult their design team as they are the only company who regularly supply us with model vehicles in our scale in a fully finished form . Their choices have some times been odd but have always been interesting

Yes, hard to understand. When I began in N gauge, basically the only road vehicles available were whitemetal kits.

To knock Oxford Dicast certainly does not make sense to me.

It will be interesting to see if there are any new N gauge tooling shapes in the announcement, hopefully yes

The new planned items announcement on the members only Oxford Diecast Collectors Facebook Group will be from 7pm on Tuesday 8th October 2019, and probably to the trade on Wednesday.

Mike

Any idea on when new tooling will be announced?

The re-colours are of limited use as very specific to regions

It does seem odd that Oxford release so many buses that just seem to sit on the shelves in model shops, the lorries would appear to be far better sellers.

Always considered the tractors as poor models as they are far too chunky

Unfortunately again a somewhat underwhelming selection!

Fire Engine and Berlin Landy are okay for me but I agree on the tractors far to chunky, buses I just don't get, always available. On Facebook I asked about new tooling for N gauge next and was promised some, so next announcement is in Feb from memory so we will wait and see. I also said that I didn't understand some of their choices but there are the experts.

From comments from Eloise Davies (Oxford MD) there will be N new tooling announced in January. She said that Oxford are still in catch up mode, but new tools in all scales are on the way.

There was only one new tool in total announced - a Mercedes Sprinter van in 1/76 scale.

She responded to some gripes about the quantity of N items, and was positive about the part N plays in their range, whilst admitting that the market is much smaller than in the larger scales, which appeal more to collectors.

I agree about the tractors - but they sell very well as do the agricultural trailers. Some of the early buses are not very good, but the more recent ones are much better and there have been re-runs of the standard livery red New Routemaster.

I think that Oxford go through phases and fashions with some markets, so there was a big range of 1/76 fire engines, whereas now there are no new introductions. Hopefully N will be a fashion in 2020, but one that is sustained.

Like everybody I feel that some of their model choices are a bit weird, but then others love their off-the-wall choices, and think what I like is weird. :-)
