Class 57 Dellner Coupling
« on: February 27, 2011, 10:10:02 AM »
As Adam @ Electra has agreed to do me a new set of Arriva livery coach vinyls I have now prepared the 57 loco ready by replacing the awful Dellner stickers with scratchbuilt couplings.

First I removed the stickers and any residue:-

I then marked out the area to be drilled out for the coupling:-

The recess was then drilled out with a mini drill, revealing the original FGW green colour! I didn't drill all the way through the body, just enough to insert the coupling:-

I started with the hydraulic locking mechanism, made from tiny cuts of yellow coated wire with the ends exposed for the mounting plates, then the main coupler which was made from small pieces of plastic rod and card, using blu-tack for the mount:-

Finally the cables were installed using fuse wire, then painted up with a 000 size brush to acheive the red & yellow plugs, and silver pipe hooks:-

The usual screw coupling and jumper cables finished off the leading end:-

I don't do British stuff  ::) so can't comment on it's accuracy, but either way it is very fine detailing work indeed

great work there but theres only one problem but its an easy fix though, on class 57's fitted with Dellner couplings had their front left and right hand rails removed the side ones on the yellow panel
