I think you can get away with it in Code 40, but would be nice to have confirmation, as the trackwork does look very nice.

Code 40 to N gauge standards you can, and on 2FS plain track (like Easitrac), but if you use finescale pointwork you need to change/turn down the wheels. It's not specifically the rail depth it's the clearances around frogs etc.

If I handbuilt I'd stick with N gauge standards. Cavan Millward (sp?) has done it with Burton-on-Trent, which looks good.

Thatíd be interesting to know. It looks like 9.42mm gauge, but maybe itís a hybrid of N and 2FS?

A friend who does 2FS said you have to change wheels for pointwork, except perhaps things with very small flanges, although plain track is fine.

Just noticed this thread.

As the builder of the pointwork I can confirm that it is built to modern N gauge standards, so no wheels need modifying. The points are of soldered construction using code 40 rail, copper clad sleepers and 10thou chairplates from the 2FS range. You may, or may not, have noticed that the main line is laid to correct 23mm centres and not the PECO 26mm. The plain track is fiNetrax.

Thanks for the confirmation on track gauge. Definitely got an itch to scratch there, and would do the same as you.

Just in case anybody gets the wrong idea, I made the pointwork, but Paul Moss had the idea and laid all track. I just lent a little on him in various ways!
