I want to pledge.
I want to pledge.
Did you know that sometimes the WR ones worked in multiple (certainly in blue livery) between Reading and Paddington. That must sure have been a high powered DMU.

Yeah - much to the chagrin of my wallet my fingers are getting twitchy to order one or more.

No, it won't be for some time yet. We've learnt from experience that it is better/safer to wait for CAD to be complete before we open the order book - it stops any price rise shocks, and it means there is a much shorter production time from people handing over money to us to them getting their model (the flip side being that the sale period can often be much shorter).

As ever, we will update our website/newsletter and social media/fora when they're on sale.

Cheers, Mike

Have you decided which combinations of liveries and WR/MR units you're going to produce?

Hi Steven,

No, we will finalise those decisions before we open the order book, though I am pretty sure there'll be green and blue versions plus Royal Mail red.  Each colour would need to reach at least 300 orders to proceed, and of course overall sales need to reach at least 1000 units.

One thing we learned with the 321 was that it's actually a bad idea to offer too much choice - people seem to become paralysed by indecision and order nothing!

Cheers

Ben A.

David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with him.

There is a lot of research published on consumer behaviour which proves just what you've experienced: "it's actually a bad idea to offer too much choice - people seem to become paralysed by indecision and order nothing!"

"In 2000, psychologists Sheena Iyengar and Mark Lepper from Columbia and Stanford University published a study about jams. On a regular day at a local food market, people would find a display table with 24 different kinds of jams. Then on another day, at that same food market, people were given only 6 different types of jam choices.

Guess which display table lead to more sales? Exactly.

Iyengar and Lepper found was that while the big display table (with 24 jams) generated more interest, people were far less likely to purchase a jar of jam than in the case of the smaller display (about ten times less likely)."

Splendid - I shall be interested in the Royal Mail version (Edit: in WR configuration).

It would have been very interesting if they had tried every number of jams between 1 and, say, 32 to find the optimum choice point and to plot a graph of number of jams against interest and indecisiveness.

Personally I would like a WR set in original livery with whiskers but would settle for any WR green livery. I appreciate the issue of too many choices. For a small class, there are a lot of possible options (which are effectively doubled by the WR/LMR variants).
Well, that's just not good enough. Some fount of all knowledge you are!   ;)

Just to confirm then, no one wants the MR version (why would they, they are ugly as sin) and all the different WR versions will be done :)
