Press fix transfers

I have a couple of ATM KQAs squirrelled away from a few years ago. Unfortunately the press fix transfers are pretty much dried out and wont stick to the body.
Not sure if anyone has ever tried to rescue these transfers but maybe there is a way.? Any advice greatly received.

I know I could just paint over the body in a very rusty brown but I quite like a little bit of decal showing occasionally.

I don't know the transfers, but could you lay them flat face down and waft some spray Photo mount glue on the back ?

I don't know if it will help, but I used Microscale products 'Micro Set' (comes in a blue phial) to secure some Woodhead transfers because the original glue had disappeared/dried out before using them.

If it does hold them in  place, possibly a coat of appropriate varnish will re-inforce the bond after they have initially stuck

I have had this problem before, all I did was use them like water slide transfers, the water seemed to re-activate the "glue". Once in position they were finished in the usual way with a coat of "klear" to keep them sealed.

Thanks for that, I've got both micro set and micro sol, I'll give that a go.
Elsewhere Ive read that press fix can be used as meth fix if they become non sticky. Any one had a go at that?

In the dim and distant past, I'm sure that I read that as a possible cure, but I haven't tried it.

This is of interest to me as I have a few complete sheets of the old Woodhead decals squirreled away. I will do a couple of trials to see how I get on and report back in due course.  The insructions seem a tad over complicated, so can anyone say in simple terms how they would have been applied back in the day when fresh?  Thanks.

From what I recall......
Cut out the transfer
Apply in the right location
Brush on water (preferably warm ?)
Keep going till backing paper removes

@trkilliman, my problem was that the transfers seemed to have dried out. @koyli55002 is correct in the way they are applied, and for my KTAs this makes a lot of sense they are tiny transfers and there are a lot of them to try and position; the positioning is effectively done for you.
However, I had another go and this time they worked far better. The difference was to use micro sol and make sure that they are applied to a high gloss finish, and then finish off with a matt colour or varnish afterwards.
Sadly many of the decals were ruined by my ineptitude, but there is enough of a panel showing through the grime on the KTAs t make them acceptable from a four foot viewing distance. These are specificaly for Northallerton as I am trying to recreate this:





Thats a one container train! Taken a couple of years ago.

I am currently building a large rake of Stanier Porthole coaches in carmine and cream from Ultima N/S sides. These came from the NGS shop sale, and at the same time I bought some packs of Ultima B.R. coach lining.

The lining is of the same type as the old Woodhead decals. You have to be SO careful with it as it's very flimsy...I reckon I could now become a surgeon! It's the first time I have used this type of decal so a bit of a learning curve, that said lining has to be amongst the most difficult to carry out. Slightly out of line and it forever glares at you!  You also have to be alert and careful to lay them down the right way.

I have been looking on line for some coach numbering sets for these Porthole coaches, but it looks as though they may have to be a custom order...unless any of you know different? They are the same coaches as Bachmann do in 4mm, as shown from many angles on the Hatton's website.
