That 08 on pilot duties looks familiar! Stunning layout, hopefully I can catch it at a show and meet you in person mate.

Hello Steve

Ahh yes, I cannot take credit for that little beauty. Still one of my favourites.

Cheers

This photo just echoes summer Saturday's at Llandudno, well that's what I like to think anyway :heart2: It even has seaguls flying overhead :smiley-laughing: Exactly where my inspiration for Sutton St Annes came from. 20059 & 168 whistle away on platform 2, with the Edge Hill 'rent a wreck' mix bag of Mk1 & 2 coaching stock. 37425 can be seen on platform 1 with a lovely uniform rake of Regional Mk1s.

What would complete this photo? Ahh yes, semaphore signals at the platform end. One of the jobs on the list of things to do, also a few photographers on the platform ;)

We finish for today with an overview of Sutton St Annes

Cheers

That looks great. I only live about 20-30 miles away from Sutton St. Annes so if you let me know the post code I'll pop over and do some spotting ;)

I think it's MA0 3UP - but I might be wrong. The best route is through Wonderland (ask Alice for directions) but remember to fuel your car from the same bottle as you need to drink from. Otherwise, you probably won't be able to reach the pedals!

Great looking layout - I have drawn it to the attention of the Exhibition Management Team of my own club.  They are starting to plan for 2019.

A few queries, purely of curiosity and filing for future reference.
a) is the builder of the core layout the guy who has traded on E bay as Immelmann .  When I was working on designs for Allanbrae, my new one, I saw some of his offerings in E bay and was certainly tempted.  In the end I have used my own design - inspired in part by Ian Futers gauge O layout Victoria Park.  And I bought the boards from PLS.  At shows it will use 3 of the 5 of the trestles which go under Portpatrick Town when it is on show.
b) Is that a traverser for the fiddle yard
c) I note there is only a "trailing " crossover.  Assuming it is nominally a double track, is there an assumed facing crossover off stage.  On my pre Portpatrick layout Abersoch, (sold at a show in 2003) I had used that dodge as a space saver.  Like Portpatrick Town, that had a sector plate for the fiddle yard.  18 months later I built a central board which contained the missing crossover and a small loco depot.

We have shared comments on magnets on the Facebook pages of the Forum.  I have sourced some alternatives on Amazon, (10*5*1mm) though with postage it worked out at 9 for 20.  Still somewhat cheaper than buying 5 packs of Dapol.  I'll test one on my test track but intend to use them on Portpatrick where I am now changing to easi shunt for local terminating trains and shunting the twice daily freight.

Hello Colin

Thank you for your kind words and yes, please do. I have had another show invite today (well yesterday) Taunton Rail-Ex 2018. That's 4 shows she's booked into now, and the layout has not even left the house once! I must be making a good impression ???

Regarding Steve's eBay user name, I am unsure on that one? However I first made contact with him over eBay around 3 years ago after seeing one of his little gems up for sale. The rest is history as they say, after exchanging emails to getting Sutton St Annes built.

The traverser is indeed the fiddle yard. Slides forward and backward. 4' in length and saves messing around with points. I shall take a photo of the traverser over the weekend. This is also 9" wide with 6 tracks.

You are correct regarding the crossover. This is simply to get trains that are arriving right road into platform 1 (or carriage siding) back onto the up line after departing. The up line is bi-di, so trains would cross over from the down (off stage as you put it) so they can arrive into platform 2 or the run round loop at the front. I originally planned to have the other crossover included, but I ran out of room in the 6' I had allowed, so yes another crossover would be just past the bridge in reality.

I have checked the magnets out, they look spot on and I shall be purchasing a pack. Very good value indeed. As long as they do the job, I am happy.

Cheers
Anthony

Hello Tim. Thank you for your kind words.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of the Dapol 142!! Regional Railways for me, but here's hoping they release a couple of the original provincial livery's...A Mersey Rail example will be easy to refinish from the Tyne and Wear version they are releasing. I also have 150, 153, 156 and 158's in the stock box. Will grab some more photos soon...

Cheers
