What are you going to make the 1000s of sandbags from? :D ;)

The current thinking is that as you only see the tops and front side of the stack of sacks then in a similar way to making cobble stones. Linka or Muliput putty, a press of rectangular brass tube and loooots of patience.  ;)
Tedious but rewarding.

Having looked at this again and with the number and varied sandbagged structures that need to be Ďprotectedí then maybe a rethink.  ???

For example this: which states 100,00 sandbags!

Q. Is a sandbag wall something that could be 3D printed? Not an individual sand bag but a complete section of fronts, sides and tops to suit each location.

Maybe I will pop to the 3D Modelling Board and start a topic to ask the question and it will be a valid reason for me to explore 3D printing.

Colin.

It has started to snow in the Bexhill area and there is no one about.

A couple of overviews.

@crewearpley40
1) Photo spray mount on the base object
2) Woodland Scenics soft snow scattered from a height with a spoon.
3) brush into small piles for driven snow.
4) Fix with hair spray.

A while has past and an update is due.

In late September we had and open day when our patron Eddie Izzard visited to inspect the progress so far.

Eddie arrived to much cheering from a waiting crowd.

In true style a guard of honour was drawn up from our local defence force.

After inspecting an interesting display of weaponry.

It was off to inspect the centre piece of the display room. The Railway!

I lived just about there:

We even enrolled him as an operator.

The WWII room and itís centrepiece of railway is now open daily to the public although still progressing with the seafront section.

Colin.

Notes.
All photos in this post are the property of Bexhill Observer.
Weaponary is not part of the normal display.

Excellent Photos Colin, glad to see Jonesie and the lads were on parade - was Man-Waring lurking inside somewhere!?

I'm sure Eddie loved it! Jolly good show chaps.

Cheers  :beers:

A short update.

There was an open day today at Bexhill Museum for all of those involved in the construction and operation of the layout.

Eddie has been here all day and has posted his video of the layout running.

On 18th December Sky News did an interview and recorded a piece that was put out on Christmas day, I am waiting a link to the archive and hope to post it soon.

Missed it, I paid the museum a visit yesterday. It was entertaining the curator having a play with the control panel to get some stock moving. She managed to set off the air raid sirens easily enough :)

Happy New Year all.  :beers:

Eddie has uploaded some of his own layout videos on his twitter account.

https://twitter.com/eddieizzard

Pop in there and watch all that has been posted 29th and 31st December.

Lots of interest.

Colin.

A while has past and an update is due.

If you donít look at the Museum Facebook page start here with the Layout from last Christmas.

https://www.facebook.com/BexhillMuseum/videos/2727708833955258/UzpfSTI3MzA3NTMxNjAyODoxMDE1Nzg4MTk5NjE4MTAyOQ/

A lot more progress has gone on since then so please take time to follow the timeline to the present day, several interesting bits to look at.

Regrettably the museum as with most publicly accessible places is now closed to all.

Just before we closed I had an opportunity to take some photos of our current work area which I will post later this weekend.
