Kidmore Creek Completed
« on: January 28, 2012, 11:41:23 AM »
Following a lot of tree planting & the spreading of Autumn leaves, Kidmore Creek is now completed.  The layout plan was taken from a "Continental Modeller" but it did not convert well from HO to N Gauge.  I expected that just 50 - 60% of that needed for HO would be necessary for N.  Wrong.  To secure the sweeping lines of American railroads however that I wished to portray the trade off was about 80% of the HO size giving me a 5' x 1' layout.

Since taking the photographs I have however had a point blade failure which has necessitated removing the complete point (carefully) so I currently have a large rail gap!  Pity, as Kidmore Creek is booked for its first exhibition in three weeks (18 Feb.); Kenavon, Reading, in aid of the Cholsey / Wallingford Railway Preservation Society.

Further images of the construction of this layout, and others in the Kidmore series, may be found at www.kidmorengauge.weebly.com

That last picture looks smashing mate.  I expect to see it in Trackside Photos at the back of Model Railroader at some point.

That is a loively little scene. I like the last photo too. I can just see the train rocking about the uneven rails as so often seems to be the case if Youtube is anything to go by. Cracking work!
