Guys,

I know I might be swearing most profusely and possibly banned for even mentioning this name, but is anyone having trouble getting to RMWEB????

I keep getting a 509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded error, not mine but Andy's.

Am I alone or is anyone else getting this error????

Regards

Neal.

Mustermark

I am getting that too.

I'm a personality prototype... you can tell, can't you.

I think they moved to a new server over Christmas?  So they must be having trouble again, as that's a bandwidth issue.

Claude Dreyfus

Likewise...looks like Mr Y will have to get some more band-width... ;D  :computerangry:

Lawrence

They did switch servers at Christmas and were completely off line for about 8 days I think, made our little switcharoo seem like a dawdle  ;D

Calnefoxile

It's back up and running, looks like it was a configuration issue causing the Bandwidth error.....Not Andy not paying the bill  ;D ;D

A quick question, does anyone on here still use RMWeb???

I look at it occasionally, but I think it's got to big and cumbersome now. I mean I hadn't looked at it for about 4 hours and when I eventually managed to get onto it, there are 13 pages of unread topics!!!! Thats just a nightmare to go through to see if there's anything worthwhile looking at.

Neal.

Very rarely now  Neal - far too busy keeping you lot in check  :smiley-laughing:

I read in an Aussie Computer Magazine about two years ago that in two years time the www will become so choked up that it will cease to work properly and eventually come to a screeching halt, seems to be a lot of problems with some websites so maybe we are getting close.

Aaahhh GWRWILL don't get me wrong, I couldn't agree more about here being the best for  :NGAUGE:

But I'm not one of those people who only looks at N Gauge stuff, I prefer it admitidly, but I'll look at good modelling regardless of gauge/scale, and there is some good stuff on RMWeb.

I was just saying that RMWeb has grown out of all proportions over the last couple of years, to the state where it must be almost a full time job for Andy to look after it, and it's just to big to almost be useable for someone who just dips their toe in now and again.

First question - no

As Lawrence said, as Mods we look at everything and because we're such a sociable lot if we don't keep up there are pages and pages to look at. Mostly everyone behaves themselves although that Newportnobby deserves a close eye :smiley-laughing:

I only have one thing to say on the issue, having only mobile access to the internet due to total failure of my pc,after getting the mobile broadband dongle problem sorted only for the pc to fail,if I try and access rmweb on my mobile browser, all I get is the orange safeguard screen alert. If its such a heavily modded site how can this be the case?

After all,I can get on here and this is so much more easy going than rmweb. The forum content is mindblowingly large and when the pc was breathing,I never saw the same page twice, and as it was my first forum that I registered on,I did spend a fair amount of time on it.I did quite like the Waverley layout thread even though it is oo and not n gauge.

Because  most porn-filters are useless. You can thank our current government for forcing that particular mess on you. Go beat up Orange and get them to lift the block.

If you check the Open Rights Group web site you'll see we and others are trying to collect examples of stupid and bad blocks both to help get them fixed and to show the government that right now its a farcical mess.

Also btw if you put your age on any form of contract for the dongle then you should also complain to O2 because they know your age and are being stupid. Remember to ask for a response in writing.
