Thank you for your kind words! I have got my head around the different way in which I need to construct the design and a handy extension to ensure I find any errors so hopefully this one will actually come to fruition!

Cheers,

Alex

I have some very bad news!

Unfortunately, the way I had constructed the crane in Sketchup meant it was unprintable due to many small errors. This means I will have to start again form scratch.......not good! :censored: :censored:

Wish me luck as I embark on a new start with slightly less enthusiasm but shed loads of determination!

Cheers,

Alex

Don't give up my friend, I am sure as he lay on his back getting paint in his Eye and the occasional angry missive from the Pope, Da Vinci was often annoyed painting the Sistein Chapel!

Your pace of work is always impressive, so any setbacks won't take you long to recover from.

Always good to see members models!  We're also creating the 75t for the forum, although the pace has come to a halt at the moment due to work commitments.

That'll be this one then http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=18191.0

Which really is just waiting for Transfers.

Cheers

Neal.

Hello,

I had no idea the forum was creating one as well! I kind of feel bad now for embarking on the same project! Hope the creators don't mind!

Cheers,

Alex

Hello all!

So after a day or two off and then some elbow grease I am back to where I was, if not a little further, with a fully printable version!

Here is how it looks so far:

Thanks,
Alex

Looking really good Alex. And in such a short time too. Amazing.

Thanks!

I hope to send the main crane frames off to be printed in the coming days as a test run to see how the detail comes out and what the finish is like!

Cheers,
Alex

Hello all,

This project revolves around the use of 3D printing to create a breakdown crane for my modern image university layout. I am currently designing it in Sketchup and have got thus far:

I will then send it it be printed and hand paint it upon its arrival. It has been designed to fit on some old Lima coach bogies that I recently acquired from the forum!

Thanks and look forward to your comments, good or bad!

Cheers,

Alex

Hello all!

Just another little update. I have got the main shape and its just details and the winding gear to go now before I send it off for a test print! Some details I have left off because the whole thing is a mere 18cm long so they just wouldn't be visible!

Cheers,

Alex

Hello all,

I have received the very first photos of the crane in printed form! It's still attached to the printing supports but it gives a good idea of what it looks like in real life!

Thanks,

Alex

Thanks for posting those Alex. A first for me - don't think I've ever seen a 3D print at such a raw state before.
