British Railways Steam Part 1 1967  – Steam’s Swansong , By Oakwood Visuals

DVD Review: Portraying the decline of steam on BR, this DVD looks at the removal of steam traction from the Western Region, Scottish Region, Southern Region, North Eastern Region and West Riding with some smashing footage of the last days including excursions run by BR, including a look at the tank locos on the Cromford & High Peak 1 in 14 incline!
Particular attention is paid to the sheds still running steam in the final years as they are seen to drop off the railway map.
The DVD ends with a small sample of the last bastion of steam -  the North West of England in 1968.

In some ways a very sad reminder of how the Modernisation Plan threw steam locos with sometimes just 5 years service onto the scrapheap.

Running time 55 mins
