How about a T-Trak approach while space is at a minimum.

Small light-weight units, easy to make and wire, easy to work on, very easy and quick to assemble, easy to store, expandable, shrinkable, rearrange-able.  Can use your DCC stuff and other materials.

That's good news Geoff. I can empathise with the dismantling... did the same myself over Xmas. It doesn't seem half so distressing when you know you will be rebuilding again one day. And maybe doing it better next time (in my case anyway). Glad you get to box it up for the future.

One of the great things about N is that it doesn't need to take up lots of space, one of my favourite layouts is Black Sheep Lane.

I've always liked small layouts and think it is sometimes more of a challenge to build a small layout than a big one.

Great news, I still have some N gauge in boxes that I wouldn't get rid of, although I now model other scales, with micro layouts.

Well the opposite sex are strange beings, her indoors the one that has to be obeyed has told me I can have the room back, Screams out loud with a thunderous din but not in front of the wife all my hard work was ripped up and baseboards put in the tip so now I am working out how much the cost will be to build a new layout, so this time I am going to do one which goes around the room which can be taken down easily and stored, I have come up with a design but not sure if it will work but it seems OK.

So here is a photo what I have come up with.

I am doing the baseboard with 9mm MDF and fully seal it but with it being indoors it should be OK.

The room is 3250 x 1900 and all in Kato track, I do like Kato track it is so robust and reusable.

with me making a 15" shelf all round the room I will have to crawl in and out of the room after crawling to the wife and re thanking her for my room back, lets hope she does not change her mind.

Good to hear that you can start again - definitely seal both sides of the MDF and when cutting /drilling it vacuum up the dust asap - I know its a pain but better than having breathing problems brought on by the dust.
