The outrage was commited a number of years ago and now we only keep the 'item' within limits to save straining the mutilated native stock..... and ***  the planning authorities

Thank you , although there are those who would suggest that ;...Straining the...***  the planning authorities' might not be such a bad idea and no doubt Brussels (and Plod) would be able to provide chapter and verse as to why such an action would not be covered under existing regulations and therefore 'illegal'...

Sorry, but ... surely you (OK, maybe not  ) or a family member could have done it & saved the £144 !  A stepladder and a decent set of pruners would do it !!!  From your earlier posts, I was expecting something far larger !

And yes, I am speaking from experience ...  I'll be heading, over the Winter, up ladders with a chainsaw & re-topping a bunch of Leylandii down from their current heights to around half; say 10'-15' off the ground (depending on what part of the garden they're in).  This is basic compared to my future work, and mine is basic compared to the removal of a large (100' ?  Damn tall, anyway) Leylandii next door that went over the summer.

Yes I paid someone to do that as I cant find a way to get my wheelchair (with me on it) up into the tree  or risk any other family member to go up and try and avoid dropping branches onto passing vehicles and pedestrians
