I am wanting a new motor for a Minitrix Britannia and a 9F, so was hoping there is an alternative motor from another manufacturer that can be fitted, instead of try to find a Minitrix motor, that might not work right from a certain auction site.

Thanks in advance Bob

Look in Train surgery, There's a thread on Minitrix repairs with several places to obtain the real thing mentioned.

I've already looked there, no specific links or answers to what alternatives are available, plus some of the links are now just gobbledegook

I guess I've drawn a blank then  ???

Try Gaugemaster - they managed to get traction tyres for a Britannia although it took them a while

The loco runs very erratic, sometimes stops altogether, then suddenly starts again with a lot of sparking from the armature.

I was originally asking about a replacement motor from another manufacturer as I am lead to believe the original Minitrix motor is a 3 pole and perhaps a more modern 5 pole motor would run better and smoother at low speeds?

Thanks for that

Could you suggest what type and where from please
